I am losing my mind with this system. The current "Delivering for America" program—which insists on centralizing every single piece of mail to massive regional distribution centers regardless of where it’s sent from—makes zero logical sense. Case in point: You can mail a package from a post office that is **one single block away** from its final destination. Instead of walking it across the street, USPS will load it onto a truck, drive it miles away to a massive regional hub, just so it can get stuck, delayed, or completely vanished, before (hopefully) tracking back to where it started. Saw a regular car in the postal office lot today with no plate and this big USPS decal. Im curious what it’s used for, is this a delivery vehicle or something else? i’ve never seen something like it

I have three packages stuck in the same distribution center since Saturday

My package has been stuck at a distribution facility for a little over a week. The most frustrating part is that the distribution facility is 30 minutes away from me, but obviously I can't just walk in and pick it up. The USPS site isn't helpful. I can't find a phone number to contact them and check if the package is lost or if it's just taking a while for them to sort it. I can't report it as missing either because there's no estimated delivery date for me to say that it passed. Not sure what to do.

I sent an iPod to be repaired to the guy I bought it from and did not know that he changed addresses so I sent it to his old address. It says delivered but after we both contacted USPS we were told it was “mis-delivered” and that I need to file a claim. Is there a possibility that it is being returned to sender? For reference, I mailed it on 03/25 and it says it was delivered on 03/30. I am still going to file a claim but I am wondering if anyone has received RTS packages over two months after (attempted) delivery. I stupidly only got the included $100 insurance when it is worth about double that.
