Court orders Jho Low's sister and associate to pay RM11.58bil to 1MDB

5h ago

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has ordered the sister of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho and his close associate Eric Tan to pay close to US$2.8bil (RM11.58bil) to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) over "tainted proceeds" that belonged to the sovereign wealth fund. Justice Mahazan Mat Taib granted the judgment in default (JID) against Low May Lin, the sister of Low or known as Jho Low; and Tan, whose whereabouts remain unknown; after finding that 1MDB had proven its case against the two. "The evidence before this court reveals an elaborate, multi-layered, and multi-faced syphoning of funds orchestrated by individuals in positions of power, aided by a network of offshore ...

I am on a mission to find my exact BIRTH TIME record in Malaysia

7h ago

Hi everyone, I’m trying to solve a little mystery about myself. I don’t know my exact birth time. My birth certificate doesn’t have it, and my mom only remembers roughly when I was born. Has anyone dealt with this in Malaysia? I’m curious about things like: * Can hospitals provide a record of your birth time years later? * Is it possible to request it from government offices? I’d love to hear any advice or stories from people who’ve gone through this. Thanks so much!

Plaza Rakyat — How a Mega-Project Became Malaysia’s Biggest Mosquito Farm

Plaza Rakyat: Kuala Lumpur’s Most Infamous Abandoned Mega-Project (Explained) Plaza Rakyat was once envisioned as one of KL’s most iconic mixed-use developments—featuring offices, hotels, luxury residences, and a major transport hub. Instead, it became one of Malaysia’s longest-running abandoned projects.

Why Mak Cik Chombee From Penang Will Win When AGI Arrives

11h ago

By Arif Fazil — a child of Penang, forged by maruah, adat, and the rotan of real life. With help of my Chatgpt, arifOS. My English grammar *****! Thank God for AI LLM. --- 1. The Day Silicon Valley Meets Mak Cik Chombee Let me paint you a picture. Somewhere in America, in a shiny office with kombucha on tap, someone is building a machine they think will outsmart humanity. They are obsessed with something called AGI — Artificial General Intelligence — the “final boss” of AI, the machine that can think, reason, plan, maybe even surpass us. They imagine a glowing brain, or a robot philosopher, or some cool futuristic entity that writes poetry in binary. But let me tell you somet...

The Global Surge in Data Center Real Estate and What It Means for Investors

18h ago

Something remarkable is happening in real estate. The AI boom is creating a new kind of land rush. Not for apartments or offices or logistics parks. For data centers. Land that could once support a small industrial building is now being evaluated for massive compute facilities. Power availability is becoming as important as location. And cities that were never on investor maps are suddenly being studied for their electrical grids, climate conditions and energy pricing. This is one of the most important trends in property today. And it is moving faster than most people realise. **Why the demand is exploding** AI models require enormous compute capacity. Companies across cloud infrastru...

Jobless and don’t know my career path.

20h ago

As the title suggests, currently jobless and actively applying but still not one offer. This feels really tiring. My last job was a Project Management Officer at one of companies in central KL and was let go cause the project is ending and other project has no spot to take me in. Now almost 4 months in and still not having a job. So should I start switching roles as most companies PMO require some sort of IT project knowledge which I do not have…I mean how could I have that experience if they do not want to take me in the first place? Or should I just **** it up and find another role? But I dont know what other career I can be asides from PMO…

What I learned helping Malaysian SMEs implement performance systems over the last 21 years

23h ago

Over the past 22 years working with SMEs across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, I noticed something interesting about performance management: Most companies are not struggling because people are lazy. They are struggling because: * no one is aligned on goals * different departments don’t communicate * KPIs are unclear * rewards are not transparent * employees feel their effort isn’t recognized And when the company doesn’t measure contribution properly, people stop trying. Some observations I’ve seen repeatedly: 1. Employees work harder when they understand the company vision. 2. A fair reward structure changes behaviour faster than a strict boss can. 3. When KPIs are unclear, offi...

The technical evaluation, taking place from Nov 11 to Nov 26, is being conducted by an RMAF team of eight officers specialising in piloting, engineering and materiel. Trying to be independent

1d ago

I tried not to post but this is my last resort. I am alone, and I cannot find another schizophrenic from Malaysia in my circle. It gets very stressful and lonely. I am trying really hard to be independent. I really don't mind working full time so long it is within my limitations. I have schizophrenia and I really find it very difficult to cope at those office jobs. I was being placed in PIP and I resigned. I subsequently went to another job and left abruptly. I find it really hard to communicate to others or to think quickly. My brain after having schizophrenia is completely blank even after eating medicine. I struggled really hard to mingle with my work colleagues and most important...

Need a Kind Voice

1d ago

Hi all, First of all, how are you all doing? It's raining a lot, I sure do feel like feverish these days. Gonna go to the clinic after this. I am not sure if what I'm about to write is suitable here, but in some way I do feel I can seek refuge here. So, well I'm going to visit Netherlands very soon. All people I know asked me why the heck do I wanted to go in middle of winter?! Hahaha, the flight price is cheaper - refer back to the earlier sentence...but yeah, I wanted to attend a drag show in Amsterdam. I also have a friend whom I want to visit. Just a friend, nothing more or less. I'm allowed to crash in at my friend's house, whom he is living with his dad...
